Before you get onto this trip to a memory lane that you probably haven’t been to, the reason why this is just being released now lays completely and squarely upon me, since everyone else who took a pass did their job swiftly and in time. Shit happens, sadly, one after another. Welp.
Anyways, here we are! This movie follows the Hurricanger and Gouraiger ten years after (duh) the events of their tv show, so most things won’t, understandably, make much sense unless you’ve seen the show beforehand. Regardless, it’s an interesting movie that remains fun enough to enjoy even if you haven’t watched the whole show.
Those who’ve watched HaroRangers’ releases of Hurricanger should be familiar with the names and style used throughout the movie, which we tried to adhere to as close as possible.
An important element to this movie is the band Junretsu (純烈), which is a real J-pop band, except here they write the 純 of 純烈 in romaji as JUN, hence JUNretsu. It’s comprised of Gaoranger‘s Gao Black, Kamen Rider Ryuki‘s Kitaoka, Hurri‘s KabutoRaiger, Gills from Kamen Rider Agito, and two other members. The absentee from their direct-to-video debut performance is Tomoi Yusuke, the green-colored Kamen Rider Gills.
The song Silent Sorrow is written by Sakai Kazuyoshi (GaoBlack) and musicalized by Hideaki Takatori (the singer of Hurricanger’s OP). It’s an original song written for the movie.
Here’s a video of Junretsu’s 2013 single, “Love is a Blue Rose”:
